Inside Jalna

Inside Jalna is an interactive digital narrative project developed as a final work for the Master of Digital Media program at the Centre for Digital Media in Vancouver. It explores the sets and characters of the best-selling Jalna novels, written by Canadian author Mazo de la Roche (1879-1961). Settled on the rural shores of Lake Ontario, the books tell the story of the Whiteoak family and offer a unique overview of 19th-century Canadian society. The project interconnects the narratives of three books and invites users to explore the content through an interactive structure that combines written text and visual elements in a nonlinear format that encourages exploration and user-driven discovery.

It was a new experience for me as a scriptwriter. I developed the narrative structure, using excerpts from the books to shape the interactive flow of the experience, ensuring narrative coherence and user engagement.
